CHANGE AT THE TOP AT KCHT

Press Release

July 2008

After 18 years service as the founder Chief Executive, David Howells will be retiring from KCHT at the end of September.

Working closely over many years with our founder Chairman Lady Northbourne, our Trustees and a very talented team of colleagues, David has seen KCHT grow to one of the leading providers of social care services in the region and one of the South-East and England larger charities.KCHT cares for and supports more than 3000 people each year with a staff team of more than 1400 and an income of circa £28m.Our services provide care and support to older people, adults with a disability, vulnerable young people and children and their families in crisis.

Cedric Frederickhas been appointed to succeed David and takes up his duties in the middle of August.Cedric comes to KCHT from Adepta and has a wealth of experience in social care and charities, particularly services for people with a learning disability, autism or mental health ill health across East England.

Brian Munday, KCHT Chairman said -

“We are all very sad to be losing David’s services. He has achieved so much in developing services for people in need in Greenwich, Bexley, Medway and Kent.He will be missed and we wish him a very happy and healthy retirement – not that he will have much time to put his feet up as he is already involved in a voluntary capacity with 3 local and 1 international charities! It was a fitting tribute to a lifetime career in housing and social care that David’s considerable achievements were recently recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Adult Services Directorate of Kent County Council.

We are very pleased to welcome Cedric as Chief Executive to lead KCHT into the future. We know that he has much to offer and that our services will continue to grow and develop with his skills and resources.”
