Purpose of the Charitable Fund

The KCHT Charitable Fund provides grants for individual KCHT clients and service users. Funds come from the KCHT staff Payroll Giving scheme and from surpluses generated by KCHT Futures. Grants are available under two criteria - financial need and personal development - where funds for the particular purposes are not available from any other source.
As a registered charity, KCHT ensures that The Charitable Fund is operated according to the regulations and guidelines of the Charity Commission. KCHT's Board of Trustees have set terms of reference and eligibility criteria for the grants made from The Charitable Fund and these are regularly reviewed.
The KCHT Charitable Fund has been used for many different activities and has helped a number of individuals with different needs. These include:
- Various trips including a trip to Belgium and trips on the Morning Star sailing ship to develop confidence, self-esteem and teamworking skills
- Educational materials including books, stationary and bus passes to travel to college
- A wheelchair for a Care at Home client to promote independence
- Clothing for residents in our care homes
- Various activities, including board games for service users and residents
- Equipment needed to enable young people to set up in their own home
